The Black American Party advances the producer class of the Black American community — through ownership, enterprise, constitutional principle, and economic solidarity. What is good for Black Americans is good for all Americans.
Progress has to be measured in assets, not in acknowledgement.
To progress is to advance. The question a serious politics has to answer is: advance toward what, measured how? Black American progress should be measured in businesses owned, homes held, wealth transferred, children raised in stable households and mastery achieved.
Measured that way, several decades widely described as progressive were not. Representation rose. Recognition rose. Ownership did not keep pace, and household stability declined sharply.
It has been generous with recognition and stingy with ownership. It delivers apology, representation, symbolic victory and programme funding, while the underlying asset position barely moves - and it treats the resulting dependency as care.
It has also grown hostile to institutions Black Americans need most, particularly the two-parent family, and it asks us to treat that hostility as sophistication.
Structural injustice is real. It was legislated, and what was legislated can be legislated against. Ignoring that is not realism; it is surrender.
True Black Progressivism keeps the structural analysis and changes the objective: from inclusion to ownership, from recognition to assets, from programmes to institutions. Same diagnosis, different prescription, and the prescription is the part that matters.
Keeping the structural analysis of injustice while changing the objective - measuring progress in businesses owned, homes held and wealth transferred rather than in recognition and representation.
That it has been generous with recognition and stingy with ownership, treats resulting dependency as care, and has grown hostile to the two-parent family.
We keep producing extraordinary leaders and no machinery. Then we lose the leader and start over.
The two-axis map of American politics was not drawn with Black American interests in mind.
Black American political attention is confined to a narrow band of subjects, and the confinement is not accidental.
Not conservative. Not progressive. American - and specific about what that means.
Conserving Black America is not the same as joining the conservative movement.
Both parties tell a version of this history that flatters them. Neither version is a reason to hand over your vote.
