A gap this size does not close by accident, and it does not close by complaint either.
The racial wealth gap is a difference in accumulated assets, and it is vastly larger than the difference in incomes. That single fact should reorganise every strategy aimed at it. Raising wages narrows the income gap. Only assets narrow the wealth gap.
It follows that a generation of policy aimed at employment and wages, however well intentioned, was aimed at the wrong variable.
Ownership first. Every business started, every home bought, every acre retained is a permanent addition to the community's balance sheet that no legislature can revoke.
Circulation second. A dollar that turns over several times inside the community before leaving creates several incomes from one. This is the mechanism the Black Dollar app exists to make measurable.
Retention third. Sound money, financial literacy, and protection from predatory commerce - the lenders, dealers and rent-to-own operations that extract from our neighbourhoods precisely because they know the alternatives are thin.
We do not build the plan around a transfer that has not happened and may not. The reparations question is addressed in its own chapter and is a matter of justice on its own terms. But a community that makes its economic future contingent on someone else's decision has handed that someone else a veto.
Everything in this chapter can be started this quarter, by us, without anyone's approval. That is the point.
Through ownership, circulation and retention: more Black-owned assets, more turns of each dollar inside the community, and protection of what is earned through sound money, financial literacy and action against predatory commerce.
Because the gap is a difference in accumulated assets, which is far larger than the difference in incomes. Only assets close an asset gap.
A community that treats intelligence as suspect has agreed to lose.
The information a community receives determines the politics it produces.
Every technological wave so far has been something done to this community. The next one does not have to be.
Our children are not less capable. The infrastructure and the curriculum are less present.
Every other institution this platform proposes is downstream of this one.
