A Cohesive Political Voice for Foundational Black Americans
Neither Left.

Fiscal vs Social Issues: Why the Standard Split Fails Us

The two-axis map of American politics was not drawn with Black American interests in mind.

A borrowed framework

American politics is conventionally sorted into fiscal conservatism versus fiscal liberalism, and social conservatism versus social liberalism. Black Americans are then told to pick a quadrant, and are usually assigned one without being asked.

But the framework encodes someone else's priorities. On the questions that decide Black American outcomes - ownership, family stability, education quality, currency integrity, protection from predatory commerce - the conventional axes cut across our interests rather than along them.

Where Black America actually sits

Survey after survey finds Black Americans considerably more socially traditional than the party that receives their votes, and considerably more economically interventionist than the party that does not. Neither coalition represents that combination, so both ask us to abandon half of what we believe.

That is not a failure of Black American political sophistication. It is an accurate reflection of a community whose interests do not map onto a system built without it.

The party's answer

We decline the map. Each question is decided on whether it advances Foundational Black American prosperity and self-determination within a constitutional framework - not on whether the resulting position is recognisably left or right.

That produces a platform that looks inconsistent to people committed to the existing axes and entirely coherent to the people it was written for.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the Black American Party sit on the political spectrum?

Deliberately off it. Positions are decided on whether they advance Foundational Black American prosperity and self-determination within a constitutional framework, not on whether they read as left or right.

Why does the party reject the fiscal/social framework?

Because it encodes priorities set elsewhere, and Black Americans are typically more socially traditional than the party that receives their votes and more economically interventionist than the one that does not.
