We are the most valuable talent pool in global entertainment and among the least represented in its ownership.
Entertainment is the one field where Black American excellence has never been in dispute and where the community is nevertheless poor. The reason is structural: talent is paid per project, ownership is paid forever. An artist earns from a record; a catalogue owner earns from that record for seventy years.
A community that produces extraordinary talent and no proprietors produces extraordinary wealth for somebody else. This is the single clearest illustration of the producer-class argument in the whole platform.
Masters and publishing. Studios and post-production. Distribution platforms. Venues and festivals. Management and legal representation - the advisers, because an artist advised by someone with no stake in the community's long-term position will be advised toward the deal that pays this year.
Every one of those is a business a Black American can start, and several are businesses our people already run at small scale and could run at large scale with capital and coordination.
An entertainer with a large Black American audience holds a curriculum, whether or not they want one. That is not a demand for propaganda; it is an observation about influence. What is celebrated on a record is pursued in a neighbourhood.
The party's ask of Black American entertainers is not that they sanitise their work. It is that they own it, and that they understand what they are teaching while they do.
That Black American dominance in talent has produced almost no ownership, and the priority is moving from talent to proprietor: masters, publishing, studios, distribution, venues and representation.
