The Black American Party advances the producer class of the Black American community — through ownership, enterprise, constitutional principle, and economic solidarity. What is good for Black Americans is good for all Americans.
The critique is of a political arrangement, not of anyone's sincerity.
Black Americans supply one of the most reliable voting blocs in American politics. In return the community receives representation, rhetorical solidarity, and programme funding. What it does not receive is a proportionate improvement in ownership, household stability or accumulated wealth - the measures that actually determine a people's position.
That is not an accusation of bad faith. It is an observation about incentives. Support that arrives unconditionally does not have to be earned, and unearned support is rationally taken for granted.
Policies that raise income without creating assets. Educational approaches defended for adult political reasons while Black children remain in failing schools. A cultural politics increasingly hostile to the two-parent family. And a durable habit of treating Black Americans as a category to be advocated for rather than a constituency to negotiate with.
It is not an argument for the other party, which has generally not bothered to compete for these votes at all and has its own record to answer for.
It is an argument for independence. The problem is not which coalition holds our votes. It is that our votes are held at all, rather than contested for.
A useful discipline is to ask of any political friend: what have they delivered that changed the community's asset position, as opposed to its representation? Naming a building is not a policy. A commission is not a policy. An apology is not a policy.
Applied consistently that test disqualifies a great deal of what is currently offered to Black America by people who consider themselves allies - and it would disqualify this party too, the moment we start trading in the same currency.
No. The party's argument is for independence - that the problem is having the Black vote held unconditionally by anyone rather than contested for.
That unconditional support is rationally taken for granted, and the community has received representation and programme funding without a proportionate improvement in ownership, household stability or wealth.
A party whose first priority is the producer class has to be able to say what it will actually do for the people who own the businesses.
Not a transfer. A functioning position in the economy that already exists.
Full participation means the boardroom and the supply chain, not only the workforce.
Income is what you earn. Wealth is what is still there when you are not.
A gap this size does not close by accident, and it does not close by complaint either.
