Anti-war and pro-strong-military — and why passports change politics.
Black Americans are disproportionately represented in the United States military. For this reason, the Black American Party is an anti-war party. We are also, however, a pro-strong-military party. Black Americans who are fortunate enough to have experienced being stationed overseas are exposed to the world in a way which is very outside of the Black American Zeitgeist, as well as the American Zeitgeist. Some might ask, “Why call it the American Zeitgeist? Why not call it the White American Zeitgeist?”. To that I would answer that the American Zeitgeist represents mainstream or popular American culture. Only Black Americans have had such a profoundly significant impact upon American culture.
During the military overseas experience, Black Americans tend to fare particularly well with the local population of many countries. In our experience here at home, we already live a cross-cultural existence. We are a very loving and accepting people. In fact, we are probably the most accepting of other cultures than any other race of people in the world. International travel broadens the mind. Nobody returns from a trip the same person who left. For Black American society, it is important to get a first-hand view of the cultures, lifestyles, and standard of living of people in all countries of the world.

Unfortunately, too small a segment of Black American society has had the overseas experience. Too many of us are too entrenched in the American Zeitgeist, especially with regard to how a Black American is supposed to see himself. When we only know ourselves from within American society, we can only see ourselves as niggas. As I stated earlier in this book, it has been my experience that white Americans get pretty uncomfortable when confronted with a Black American who operates outside of that set of paradigms.
Many of us consider ourselves Pan Africanists. This is a good thing, as our people have suffered similar struggles to ours throughout the diaspora. However, I feel that movements that ask us, as Black Americans, to focus on the international Black struggle may not be the most effective use of our political position. Ultimately, we can do a lot more for our brethren throughout Africa and the world, by consolidating our political power as Black Americans.
This requires us to take a common-sense look at who we are as a people. We accept all of our people, regardless of complexion, so-called “mixed-race” status, or miscegenation. Organizations that divide black people based on colorism, or whether someone is married to a person of another race, are intended to divide Black Americans. We are already considered a cohesive voting bloc, and utilized by others outside of our community for their own interests. It is time for us to utilize our voting bloc solely for the benefit of Black Americans.
Now this does not mean we should not consider the struggles of Black people throughout the diaspora. Of course, we care about our universal struggle for liberation and equality as the children of Africa. But we cannot dilute our energies toward an imaginary paradigm of universal victimhood to colonialism and white oppression.
We should, however, consider ourselves an international people, specifically as Black Americans. I cannot stress the importance of Black Americans traveling and spending appreciable amounts of time living and working within foreign cultures. In addition to the benefits of expanded consciousness that traveling brings to the traveler, the collective of Black Americans is also benefitted. We, as Black Americans, need to develop an international strategy. Heretofore we have spent too much of our political focus on our emotional responses to domestic issues. These responses were dependent upon the sense of victimization promoted toward Black Americans within the American Zeitgeist and through the media.
The information age affords us the opportunity to seek full economic inclusion. Not only in every level of business and commerce in the US domestic economy, but full participation in international trade as well. It is time for Black Americans to begin to think more of ourselves as an international people. Because that is, in fact, what we are. Outside of the United States, the rest of the world may see us as a tragically privileged people, who are easily manipulated by their emotions to vote in favor of policies that are detrimental to the world. Most times we have also been manipulated into voting for policies that were not even in our own interests.
By thinking of ourselves as an international people, I mean first, traveling and understanding what it means to be an American. Whether or not America is perfect, we still have the highest standard of living in the world. This is in regard to our freedoms, and our wealth, which is a product of our freedoms. Many of us need to see firsthand, the lifestyles, conditions, and opportunities with which not only Black people, but people of all races live with every day. The experience gives every first-time American traveler the opportunity to count his or her blessings.
International travel also gives the Black American an opportunity to live outside of both the Black American Zeitgeist, and the American Zeitgeist. This experience gives one the opportunity to understand all the nonsensical things that we believe, both as Black Americans, and as Americans in general. This is why the civil rights struggle was born, out of the recognition of veterans returning from fighting in World War II, that we were not being treated fairly here at home.
Overseas experience for Black Americans is one of the greatest threats to the notion of so-called white supremacy. It provides a Black American with a level of social maturity that makes it impossible for him to see himself as anything less than equal to all peoples. This paradigm shift is essential for the majority of Black Americans to have, in order for us to operate with intelligent cohesion as an international people.
Again, as Black Americans are represented disproportionately among the ranks of the United States military, it is only logical that the Black American Party is a pro-strong-military, and anti-war party. A strong and vibrant US military provides many Black Americans as well as Americans of all races with opportunities for education and travel. But this is far from the only international issue facing black Americans.
A return to the gold and silver standard would bring a shift in US/Africa relations, for obvious reasons. This would in turn raise the profile of Black Americans in US as well as world politics. As of this writing, it is evident that the collapse of the present fiat currency system in use in the United States is inevitable. The current political turmoil of the time of this writing is a testament to that. This is why those who would rather destroy the United States, than lose control of her currency, are willing to pull Black Americans into a race war with staged riots that are supposedly held in our name. They fear the power that return to the Gold Standard could bring to Black Americans, even though the vast majority of us are completely oblivious to this.
The internet provides us with the opportunity to establish business relationships with Black people throughout the world. Our international relationships within the diaspora can be established and nurtured right now. As our domestic economy is solidified through online Black business networks, we can also establish international Black business alliances.
By understanding ourselves as an international people, we can free ourselves from being manipulated by others to support an international agenda that does not benefit Black Americans in the least. In fact, any foreign policy that entails military aggression, putting American troops in harms way, puts a disproportionate amount of Black American troops in harms way. This is not only not a policy that is in the interest of Black Americans, it is a policy of an enemy of Black Americans.
Understanding one’s position as an American on the world stage may be essential for shedding the sense of victimization that is so prevalent within the Black American Zeitgeist. The maintenance of this sense of victimhood under the oppression of so-called white supremacy is pumped into the Black American Zeitgeist by the media manipulators. The presence of this disempowering, self-debilitating mindset is necessary for the media to control the emotions of Black Americans over such issues as police brutality. This is not to say that police brutality is not a real and serious issue. It is to say that it is time for Black Americans to embrace our power to change this, as well as the crime within Black American communities throughout the United States.
